Clean It Up!

Balance is what I strive for. I really believe that I can do everything that I want as a woman, wife, mom, daughter, sister, friend, physician, etc. etc. I love having many eggs in many baskets, but it does create the challenge of staying balanced and striving to always make sure your intentions and actions are in alignment with your priorities and beliefs. So that’s the ideal. The reality…sometimes you get outta whack. Something pulls you. . .too much work, not enough working out, too many chores, not enough family fun, too much fast food, too little focus on a healthy diet, too much worry, too little prayer, too much self absorption, not enough altruism. You get the picture I am sure.

I’ve always been intrigued by the concept of a “cleanse.” Now I am not into diets-they don’t work, so this is not about losing weight. There is something about eating a diet of all natural foods and giving your body a break from the junk that seems like a beneficial exercise. Surely my cells will thank me for it. And there is something about the symbolism of cleansing or detoxifying that seems like it would be beneficial for the psyche. Surely my mind will thank me for it. I don’t profess to know a lot about the traditions of a fast or a cleanse, but it does intrigue me. We’ll see. . .

What do you think?
